The combination of these skills have made Express Escrow one of the finest escrow companies in the state of California. Not only have our personnel delivered excellent service, they have also contributed their time and effort to make to make our industry better and more consumer friendly. Some of contributions made by us include:
• Education - A strong and successful industry needs to have members who will share their knowledge and expertise. We have contributed a great deal in this regard. We have served as officers and directors in trade associations, conducted numerous educational and training seminars, and we are a regular contributor of technical articles for various industry publications, including the California Escrow Association magazine, CEA News.
• Legislation - We have participated in the drafting of statutes and administrative regulations affecting escrow and manufactured housing. To facilitate these efforts, we have served as Legislative Chairman for two different industries, have been appointed by the Department of Housing and Community Development to an Ad Hoc committee on escrow regulations, and we were even recruited by counsel of the California Banking Association to assist them on the drafting of a major piece of legislation.2
• Protection - The 80s saw a rise in white collar crime in the real estate industry. We helped fight this trend in a number of ways. Most notably, we conducted training seminars for the investigative arm of two State agencies. Then we were appointed by the Department of Corporations to serve on an Ad Hoc committee dealing with loan fraud. We also served as Chairman for a very successful committee of the California Escrow Institute which focused on unlawful rebates (kickbacks), which is a violation of federal law.
